The Power of (Self)Compassion
Daylong Practice Intensive

Holiday Edition
December 7, 2019
Saturday 10am-4pm

Self-compassion is allowing yourself to be just who you are in every moment, without trying to fix or change or ignore anything about your thoughts, feelings, or sensations. It’s an essential quality for good health and healthy relationships that includes self-kindness and self-love, and extensive research suggests these qualities are closely linked with happiness. Self-compassion can’t be learned by just reading about it or talking yourself into it, but everyone can develop it through deep listening and loving presence via meditative practice.

Daylong intensives are an opportunity to experience the healing power of self-compassion directly, through kind attention towards your mind and body, giving yourself permission to be just as you are, and by nurturing your authentic intentions of love and kindness for yourself and all beings.

Meet yourself with love, approach difficulties with wisdom, and allow your good heart to shine for yourself and others as we explore:

  • The traditional Buddhist view of our inherent wisdom and compassion

  • Mindfulness and metta meditation practice

  • The difference between self-compassion and self-improvement

  • Approaches to lessen self-conflict, self-judgement, and self-criticism

  • Wise action to support self-care and healing

  • Ways to create conditions that foster happiness for yourself and others

  • Western psychological techniques that support happiness and kindness

  • Contemporary research on the benefits of kindness and self-love

  • Guided meditation practice

  • Mindful movement

  • Recommended readings and resources

Practice intensives are open to all levels. Experienced students will deepen their knowledge and presence, and beginners will learn to establish a daily meditation and self-compassion practice.

Please wear comfortable and loose clothing. Chairs, floor cushions, and yoga mats will be provided.
